Emmen by motorbike

Emmen has one of the most famous zoos in Europe and a huge cinema. On a warm summer's day, a visit to Emmerstrand by motorbike is highly recommended. White beaches and beautiful sunbathing areas surround a clear recreational lake.

Exloo by motorbike

Just above Emmen lies the village of Exloo. It is a typical Drenthe village with a flock of sheep and beautiful surroundings with lots of forests and heathland. You can make a delightful stop at one of the many terraces in the village.

Borger by motorbike

A visit to Drenthe by motorbike is not complete without a visit to the largest hunebed in the Netherlands in the village of Borger. The village also has an excellent ice cream parlour with a huge variety of ice cream flavours!

Events for motorcyclists in Drenthe

Motorcyclists should not miss two events in the province of Drenthe.

TT in Assen by motorbike

On the last Sunday of June, Assen is the motorbike capital of our country. The Tourist Trophy (TT) in Assen is an annual motorcycle race on the Drenthe circuit. In the week before the race day, Assen hosts the TT Festival, which includes a fair, concerts and the famous TT Night, prior to the race day. Here you will literally meet tens of thousands of motorcyclists!

Motorcycle Expo Assen

From Friday 12 to Sunday 15 January 2017, the fourth edition of the Motorcycle Expo Assen will be held. The TT Hall Assen will once again be filled with motorcycles and everything related to them. Despite the winter weather, the last edition was visited by more than 11,000 motorcycle enthusiasts.

Motorcycle routes in Drenthe

Drenthe is a wonderful province for a beautiful motorcycle ride. Lots of small, winding roads. Little traffic and lots of beautiful nature. Our three favourite routes:

1. The Tour de TT

This experience route has been specially designed for motorcyclists and TT enthusiasts. Experience the old TT race as the first TT riders did many decades ago. This 65-kilometre route connects the two circuits on which the TT was held in 1925 and between 1926 and 1954.

2. Bourtanger Moeras

This 174-kilometre route starts and ends at the car park of the railway station in Coevorden. The route runs largely through the high moorland landscape in the east of the province of Drenthe (and a small part of Groningen)

This 171-kilometre route runs through the central sandy area of Drenthe, also known as the Drenthe Plateau. The tour starts at exit/entrance 27 (Fluitenberg) of the A28 motorway near Hoogeveen.

Koekoekshof

Family hotel/restaurant Koekoekshof is located in the village of Elp, in the heart of Drenthe. Drenthe hospitality also reigns on the large terrace.

Restaurant De Riete is located on the Brink in the beautiful village of Dwingeloo. A wonderful place to stop when you're out on your motorbike. You can also enjoy excellent food here, as they use the best local produce.

The farm of Klaas Frens Luning and his wife is located in the centre of the village of Ruinen in south-west Drenthe. It houses no fewer than three catering establishments. Tapas, pancakes or just a nice cup of coffee on the terrace: motorcyclists are welcome here!
